Rachel Florman
project: chupah

About This Project
In the months leading up to my wedding, I invited friends and family members to help me make a set of lanterns which, on the day of the wedding, became our chupah, the traditional Jewish wedding canopy. During the ceremony, the construction of the chupah took the place of a wedding procession.

About This Project

In the months leading up to my wedding, I invited friends and family members to help me make a set of lanterns which, on the day of the wedding, became our chupah, the traditional Jewish wedding canopy. During the ceremony, the construction of the chupah took the place of a wedding procession. With this slideshow (posted on Vimeo), I am hoping to capture the emotional thrill of watching friends and family create, literally and symbolically, the space in which I would be married.
